    This course will introduce participants to the art of reading of Piping & Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID;) typically used in the chemical and process industries by engineers and technologists in the design and construction phase, and by operations and maintenance staff once facilities are up and running. We will discuss various functions of P&IDs; and the kinds of information they convey. The stages of this important drawing during project design phase will be studied along with its general layout, content, symbols, tagging, and simplified explanation of each items. Line types, piping connections and other various sundry items peripheral to the main theme. Nitty-gritty aspects of instrumentation and control symbology will also be discussed along with dissection of tag abbreviations.
