The Health Cares Exchange Initiative, Inc. (HCEI)

HCEI.org teaches resiliency skills to persons at risk for stress and burnout such as paid care providers, administrators, employees, and family caregivers. Founded at Boston in 1992, HCEI held the first -ever nationwide focus groups with both paid and non-paid providers. As the result, our seminar "Celebrating Ourselves: Beating Burnout" has been presented for thousands of persons internationally. In 2004 HCEI became the first organization to coordinate international seminars around burnout prevention across the UK. Audiences have included the Alzheimer's Associations of Oregon and Iowa, the University of Lincoln (UK), Wake Forest University School of Medicine and the Orkney Carers Center, Scotland. Because cardiac disease is the leading cause of death in the US (and preventable medical errors are the third) HCEI helps organizations and individuals identify stress and respond in healthy ways. Individuals who care about themselves better provide better care and services to others.
